Skip the expensive Keto snacks and Make your own Keto Cheese Crisps with this surprising and simple recipe hack!
One of the best things about my husband following a Ketogenic diet is having baked Keto Cheese Crisps in the house. Unfortunately, while cheese crisps are delicious, the store bought kind are not exactly budget friendly and not always that easy to find.
I was skeptical about making homemade Keto Cheese Crisps but when I stumbled across this recipe I just had to try it. I was thrilled when I was successful in creating them at home.
The texture is a little different than the store bought kind but making these Keto Cheese Crisps is crazy easy and the result is a really delicious (and slightly addictive) keto friendly snack!

About The Cheese Slices
This recipe uses Sargento Ultra Thin cheese slices. They are cut REALLY thin so they bake up thin and become crispy in a shorter period of time. Thicker sandwich slices (normal cheese slices) can be used to make these Ketc Cheese Crisps but the bake time may need to be extended (some readers have baked for 60 minutes) to allow the moisture to be released from the cheese.
How to Make Keto Cheese Crisps
Preheat the oven to 250 degrees F and line one or two large baking sheets with nonstick parchment paper, depending on how large of a batch you are making.
Nonstick parchment is a very important part of this recipe. The nonstick parchment will allow the crisps the crisps to remove nicely after baking. In addition, it wicks away some of the oil that is released during the process and cleanup is a breeze.
There are 20 slices in the package and one half of the package fills one half sheet baking pan. Remove the paper between the slices and stack in an even pile. Cut the stack of slices into four pieces.
One slice at a time, lay them flat on the parchment paper lined baking sheet. While they don’t have to be very far apart, make sure that they are not touching.
Make sure that the baking rack is placed in the middle position of the preheated oven. Place the baking pan into the oven and bake for 35 minutes at 250 degrees F.
*Since I wasn’t really that sure that the recipe was going to work, I kept looking in the oven to see what was actually happening. It’s better if you don’t do this but they still turned out good. My family’s only complaint is that they aren’t as thick as Whisps.
After 35 minutes in the oven, remove and allow to cool on the baking sheet.
There is a lot of oil released when these bake so after they are cooled you may want to set them onto a paper towel to absorb the excess before serving.
They may take 12-24 hours to become the right degree of crispiness, so leave them exposed to room air until that happens and then store in a zip top bag. Enjoy!

Consuming too much cheese on a keto diet can lead to an excessive intake of saturated fat and calories, which may hinder weight loss efforts. It's essential to maintain balance and moderation in food choices to achieve optimal results.
The best keto cheeses include cheddar, Gouda, goat cheese, and blue cheese, while the worst are cottage cheese and low fat and processed varieties. If you're following the keto diet or know someone who is, be sure to keep these cheeses in mind to promote ketosis and meet dietary goals.
Be especially cautious of very soft low fat varieties – such as cream cheese, cottage cheese, and ricotta cheese. Sometimes low-fat versions even have sugar added, so check labels.
All types of cheese are allowed on the keto diet, as cheese is relatively low in carbohydrate, which complies with the key principle of the keto diet. The Ketogenic diet or “keto” diet is a low carbohydrate and high fat eating plan.
Not watching your carb intake - Sugar and refined carbs are in many foods. You should be aiming to eliminate these from your keto diet. “Try to keep your net carb content under 20 grams/day or total carbs under 30 grams,” Dr Riggs says. Keep close track of your sugar and carb intake by reading nutrition labels.
Not following accepted ketogenic diet guidelines can disrupt ketosis because carbs are the body's preferred energy source. If your carb intake is too high, carbs may be used for fuel instead of ketone bodies, which is the main source of fuel during ketosis.
It's totally fine and safe to eat up to 6 eggs a day while on the keto diet. You can consume even more eggs per day occasionally, as long as you make sure that you eat your greens, healthy fats and proteins from other sources.
Bananas. Bananas may be great for muscle recovery, reducing bloat, and calming an upset stomach, but they're on the list of foods you can't eat on the keto diet. With 25g of carbs per 100g serving, bananas are too high in carbs.
Grass-grazed raw butter may be one of the healthiest dairy products on a ketogenic diet menu. Grass-grazed raw butter is basically pure raw fat; it has zero carbs, zero sugars and zero grams of protein. As you can see, most of butters' fat is saturated.
(Just remember: Cheese isn't “unlimited” in a keto diet, as it still contains calories and carbs; it's also high in saturated fat, which is a less heart-healthy option than unsaturated fats, per the American Heart Association.)
Luckily, pickles are keto friendly, especially those that are of the dill pickle variety, as sugar is low. “Simply put, sweet pickles are made with sugar which will automatically push the carb count up,” says Hultin. “Dill or salt pickles don't have the added sugar and carbs, naturally,” she says.
Whisps Cheddar Cheese Crisps are made with aged cheddar cheese to deliver a satisfying cheddary bite. Delivering 10g of protein, 0g of sugar and 1g of carbs per serving, they are a delicious protein-packed snack.
Cheese tends to be low in carbs but high in fat, making it a good choice for keto diets. For example, 100 g of cheddar cheese has 2.44 g of carbs and 34 g of fat.
How many carbs are in keto cheesecake? This keto cheesecake recipe has only 2.9g total carbs per serving. This does not include the easy berry sauce or any other toppings or additions.
Keto snacks are snacks that fit into the keto diet. This means they have a low percentage of carbs and a moderate amount of protein. These sweet keto snacks are often low in carbs and sugar free. However, some keto snacks do contain too much sugar.
